Bel Ami

One of the most interesting and promising designers who The Garçonnière will keep following is Alexandre Mattiussi with his celebrated men’s brand from Paris: AMI.

After working on Dior’s ‘30 Montaigne’ men’s line, Mattiussi joined Givenchy,  moved to Marc Jacobs Men and then, last year, the 30 year old designer launched AMI – a complete men’s wardrobe, well designed, effortlessly chic and above all, ultimately parisian .

Perfect for cool summer evenings,  AMI’s collection is light casual yet with fine tailoring. The Parisian wunder-kind is selling his  clothes at leading department stores as Barney’s and Le Bon Marché  and at the Men’s online boutique MR PORTER.

In the recent Paris Men’s fashion week Mattiussi choose a friendly way of presenting his collection and instead of the “old-school” fashion show he created a lovely ambiance of a summer-holiday-under-the-stars supper, where models where enjoying themselves as much as the guests. Vive la Fête!

Reminds me of Elsa Schiaparelli who in her 1954 autobiography, Shocking Life, says she planted flower seeds in her mouth so that they would grow and beautify her face.
