Nouvelle Aviv

by Eyal de Leeuw | 11.12.12

Following previous link about music and style in Tel Aviv it comes only naturally to talk about cinema, and particularly about Nony Geffen’s new witty film NOT IN TEL AVIV.

This smart, naive and romantic comedy tells the story of high-school teacher (played by Geffen himself) who loses his job and  decides to pull his entire life down with it. He kidnaps his student, reconnects with his old high-school crush, charms all the people around him with his nonchalant attitude, making him one of the coolest characters in Israeli new cinema in recent years.

Beautifully shot in black&white the film gets his true colors by the talented actresses Romi Aboulafia and Yaara Pelzig next to the film’s moving original soundtrack.

NOT IN TEL AVIV will hit cinemas in Tel Aviv on Thursday December 13 after a successful international festival circuit including Special Jury Prize in Locarno film festival. The film producer Itay Tamir is also proud to tell The Garçonnière’s readers in France that the film will be distributed during 2013 in Paris. A bientot!
