On Thursday night at Pitti the visionary Japanese label White Mountineering, directed by the talented designer Yosuke Aizawa, showed their fall/winter 2013 collection in Stazione Leopolda, a deserted train station turned into a perfect place to show their clothes.
“Being “practical fashion” is what I care about importantly to create clothes” said the designer, and one could see his view on menswear as a combination of outwear, functionality, technical innovation (waterproofed wool fabrics!) and Japanese sensibility of colors, patterns and layers.
The show started with beautiful video images, followed by models wearing coats and jackets, parkas, nylon jackets and military inspired outwear. The most beautiful looks were printed trousers and socks, layers of textures and colors that make The Garconniere fantasise about climbing mountains in the city.
