The Great Cover

by Eyal de Leeuw | 06.05.13

Before the great buzz of the current Great Gatsby trend there was an iconic film (1974, Redford, Clayton, Coppola) and before that – there were the classic book covers. The 1925 original cover of The Great Gatsby by Francis Cugat (below) was so effective that F. Scott Fitzgerald told his publisher he had to”written it into” the novel and added a new description of Daisy Buchanan: “A girl whose disembodied face floated along the dark cornices and blinding signs”.

While anticipating the new film version The Garçonnière remembers the various literature interpretations of this iconic character.
