Paradise Lost
by Eyal de Leeuw | 24.06.13The semi-annual greeting from Prada in Milan this week was all about lost memories from imaginary vacation. But this time, as Prada said, it’s “”the cliché of the exotic—and the cliché of summer.”
She gave the collection the name “‘menacing paradise”, recalling post-war beaches of tropical islands, with floral prints and Hula girls in post apocalyptic colors that looked like atomic sunsets more than romantic postcards. The beautiful sad book “100 suns” comes to mind, especially when looking at the set and listening to the moody sountrack from “Body Heat,” “Midnight Express,” and “Risky Business,” among others.
Shirts and knitwear, travel cases and satin bomber jackets mixed with tailored suits and sportwear, creating a moody atmosphere for unknown future.
