The New Nomad
by Eyal de Leeuw | 29.06.13Paris Fashion Week was all about the new nomad – men taking their inspiration and style from everywhere: Rococo flowers and pop art, 70’s nostalgia and 90’s aesthetics, the natural world and the synthetic one. Raf Simons was so right when he put on some of his clothes panels with the words: Artificially Flavored.
The new nomad of Riccardo Tisci, for the Givenchy Spring/Summer 2014 collection, embarks upon a journey from America to Africa, mixing L.A. skaters, vintage 70’s computers, electronic loudspeakers and African ethnography.
Only Tisci can mix computerized motifs and make it look like Masaï and Zulu iconography. And only him can make the new nomad the perfect portrait of current state of manhood.
