Ami’s Tour de Force

by Eyal de Leeuw | 05.07.13

Almost a year ago The Garçonnière promised to update about Alexandre Mattiussi, a promising designer (who used to work for Dior, Givenchy and Marc Jacobs) and about his fresh menswear brand: AMI.
Good news came to Mattiussi only a few days after presenting his spring-summer 2014, as he was awarded the winner of the 2013 ANDAM Fashion Award by (Diesel’s) Renzo Rosso (amongst past winners are Gareth Pugh, Martin Margiela, Victor & Rolf). The prize includes two seasons of mentoring by Rosso, a prize of €250,000 and his collections stocked in Canadian department store Hudson’s Bay.

Ami’s presentation at Paris men’s fashion week was an homage to the old glamour of air travel.  An airport terminal was set up at the Palais de Tokyo and models were hanging out with wanderlust faces wearing chic business casual clothes. Suited yet cool, camo jackets and floral touch, stripes and vivid colors with this season’s new additions: sunglasses and sneakers.
It’s seems like the beginning of a beautiful journey. Bon voyage Alexandre!
