New York (re)cap
by Eyal de Leeuw | 15.09.13The long New York fashion week was just the beginning of a tiring month for the fashion industry, but for the Garconnieres it was the only week that matters, since Paris and Milan will be dedicated for women’s fashion.
What did we learn from it? a lot and nothing. looking at the things we loved, the usual prototypes of meanswear got their seasonal interpretation: the player, the racer, the fighter, the prisoner. Not that it was boring, but it was somwhat gloomy and grim. And we’re talking about summer, so take off your coloful items and bring back dark:
Hood By Air took paratrooper uniforms and mixed it with old Holywood signs
Lacoste were futuristic and classy, taking a crisp look at their tennis heritage and making it so now:
Robert Geller went back to Russia in the 80’s. It was dark, but beautiful:
And Siki Im took inspiration from jail and hospital uniforms. Sublime, as weird as it sounds.
